How it works
Dorek (دورك) is a digital waiting list for walk-in medical practices in Algeria: a patient in the room scans a QR code, gets an anonymous number and follows their turn on their phone. The code changes every 2 minutes, so only patients who are there can take a number. No names, phone numbers or health data. From 4 900 DZD a month, with a 7-day free trial (14 days on a colleague’s invitation).
In 4 steps
-
1. The waiting-room screen shows a QR code
It also shows the number being seen, the next ones and how many people are waiting. The code changes every 2 minutes: a photo of it sent to a relative is useless a few minutes later.
-
2. The patient scans and gets a number
They open their phone camera, point it at the code, and the page opens in the browser. No app to install, no account, no name to give. They get a ticket, for example A-008.
-
3. They follow their turn on their phone
They see their place in the queue, an estimated wait such as “about 20 to 35 min”, and the number being seen. They can sit down, step outside for some air or wait in the car.
-
4. You tap “Next patient”
The screen shows the number called. If the patient turned on “Alert me when it’s almost my turn”, their phone rings and vibrates.
What the patient sees
- Their number, for example A-008.
- Their place: “2 people before you”.
- An estimated wait, given as a range: “about 20 to 35 min”.
- The number being seen.
- The “Alert me when it’s almost my turn” button.
The page is in French, Arabic or English, as the patient chooses.
What you do, from your phone
-
Call the next patient
One tap: “Next patient”.
-
Put an urgent case first
You, or your secretary on your control screen, can tap “Mark urgent”: the ticket simply moves to the front of the queue, and nothing about the patient is recorded.
-
Mark a no-show
The patient you called doesn’t come: you mark them as a no-show and move on to the next.
-
Add a patient without a phone
You or your secretary add them with one tap. They get a number and are called on the screen like everyone else.
-
Take a break
Patients see that you’re on a break. Their place is kept.
-
Undo
Made a mistake? Every action on the queue can be undone right after.
What you need
A screen in the waiting room. A TV with a browser, a TV stick (about 12,000 to 13,000 DZD, bought by the practice) or a tablet on the reception desk.
Your phone, to call patients.
Setup takes a few minutes. Your secretary learns it in 10 minutes with the desk card.
One waiting room per doctor
Each doctor has their own waiting room in Dorek, with its own queue and screen. A clinic groups several rooms.
If the practice’s connection drops
Patients use their own mobile data. The screen shows “Connection lost” with the last known state, then reconnects by itself. You keep calling from your phone on 4G. Nothing is lost.
Try it now
A sample morning of consultations is already under way. Tap “Next patient”, add a patient, undo.
